Traceable Eco Fashion from Rapanui

Eco-conscious clothing brand Rapanui, based on the Isle of Wight, UK, just launched a new range as well as a world first complete ‘Traceability’ tool to go with it. Shoppers can trace the entire journey of any garment on the site from seed to shelf!

Rapanui is about making clothing that is eco-friendly, ethical and sustainable – made from natural organic fabrics in a Fairwear Foundation audited, wind powered factory. Now that they have established an eco-friendly supply chain the company has turned its attention to the design challenge – turning eco-fashion around from hippy to hip. How? With an award winning, online traceability tool. Shoppers can quickly find out exactly how and where their clothing is made.

Their women’s collection features super soft, flattering basics- from underwear and socks to leggings and great basic t-shirts with serious style punch.

Rapanui was set up by brothers Mart and Rob Drake-Knight in early 2008, and was immediately listed in the Top 100 Start-ups of 2008. Rapanui are winners of the 2010 Sustainable Business Awards, Runners up at the 2010 Enterprising Young Brits Awards and finalists at the 2010 RSPCA Good Business Awards. They are listed on the Future 100 List of Top young Entrepreneurs and were recently finalists in Enterprise UK’s Young Brits awards. Rapanui was the youngest company to reach the finals of the Sustainable Business Awards in 2008 and has recently been nominated for the internationally-recognised ISPO Brand New Award. Rapanui has held Seminars and Lectures at UK and EU universities and companies on Sustainable Business; and sit on the Panel at Plymouth University’s All our Futures Conference. They have also teamed up with other corporations giving back, including Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream and the Marine Conservation Society.

Designer Martin Drake-Knight states “We all know, at the back of our minds, that fashion has some quite serious and negative consequences. It can be hard to find out exactly where clothing comes from. At Rapanui we want to change that, and make it convenient for people to shop quickly, with a conscience.”

The benefit to you: Feel good shopping inside and out! Eco-fabrics are naturally softer, more breathable and comfy. So, take a look at their organic clothing and do your bit for nature. Their clothes are perfect for yoga and many other sports because of their soft, breathable qualities.
