It’s what on the side that counts

They say it’s what is on the INSIDE, but when it comes to a thong, I care about what is on the SIDE.

I started wearing thong panties about 5 years ago when a girlfriend of mine who is very particular about comfort mentioned that she wears them all the time. Even during that time of the month. So I tried a stretchy, nude, fairly full-coverage pair first. Now I have them in all shapes and colors, and wear them most frequently when in dress pants - the lack of panty line and all that.

But here’s the thing. For those of us with a real figure, those of us who eat well and don’t weigh 110 lbs like panty models do, the side of the thong matters a lot.

The type of back of the thong you like (rio, string, etc.) is up to your personal tushy comfort. The fabric might vary for you based on what you like and what you are wearing. Colors - the same, what you like and what won’t show through your outfit. But the STYLE of the thong that fits you best will be primarily determined by your body type.

I’m round. I have a healthy butt. The not nice way to say that is: I store fat in my hips. The nice way is: my rear looks like one of those Renissance paintings and I have something to grab on to. I’m about a size 8/10.

With a thong that is too low rise or has a fabric panel that is too narrow / string on the sides, I find that the thong pushes out hip fat in all directions and makes me look like a hamburger bun. Or maybe some other play dough type thing that has been pushed out in all directions. A bit more fabric with a higher rise is much more flattering. It smooths things out nicely. It follows my contours instead of fighting against them. Then the highest rise - a waist high thong - starts pushing hip out underneath the waistband.

Here’s a style I like: OnGossamer Mesh Thong With Contrasting Color Trim.

Here is a style I would not like: Malizia Elizabeth Thong.

Works with me: Cosabella Talco Microfiber Thong

Is against me: Calvin Klein Microfiber Mix Low Rise Thong

Ladies, let me know what thongs you think are comfy all day!
