Get your gear in GREEN for Earth Day! Let’s follow along and see what the celebs are up to:
Last year Natalie Portman (she’s been a vegetarian since about age 9) designed a vegan collection of shoes in collaboration with Te Casan. To view the collection at designerapparel.com, click here.
Pamela Anderson and designer Richie Rich are collaborating on an ecofriendly, vegan line of casual clothes and leather-free shoes called Muse. The line will include skirts, bathing suits and hoodies – because that’s all Pam ever wears. “I really don’t like to wear clothes,” Pam says. “I would rather go naked. But I love Richie’s designs, so I agreed to be part of Muse.”
Watch this video as Emily Deschanel tells Sprig.com what makes her green (she’s vegan) – plus where you can buy vintage clothes for a dollar a pound!
Michelle Harris, host of “Alive & Well TV”, a modern organic living show on the AmericanLife TV network, walked the red carpet for Disneynature’s “EARTH” premiere in Hollywood styled by Colin Megaro, founder of Planet Style Concierge. Colin used green accessories to play off of her BCBG Max Azria dress, including earrings and a bracelet by Smart Glass Jewelry and a yellow Harvey’s Seat Belt bag. Smart Glass Jewelry recycles old pieces of glass into amazing handmade modern jewelry pieces. Harvey’s seat belt bags are eco-friendly because they use factory-reject seatbelts and weave them into beautiful and functional hangbags.
Last Monday, Payless Shoes and model Summer Rayne Oakes launched their new Zoe&Zac line featuring organic cotton canvas, hemp, linen, EVA (non-PVC) foam beds, recycled rubber, and water-based glues. Read more here.
Britney Spears auctioned off the clothes she wore on the set of How I Met Your Mother to benefit the Natural Resources Defense Council. (Ha! She follows Payless!)
Nikster swimsuits celebrate the “sexier side of green”. We love this bamboo bikini with wrap top that can be worn multiple ways.
UK operations for Stella McCartney are powered by Ecotricity, which takes the money spent on electricity and invests it in clean forms of power – for the same price as standard electricity.
Want to go green at PROM? Learn about fashions made from eco-silk, vegan taffeta or Italian linen made from pest-resistant flax at Project Green Prom. The clumsy and hard-to-navigate website is worth a minute — it is a collaboration between Teens Turning Green and Whole Foods Market. On hand at their publicity event were Burt’s Bees giving hand massages, John Masters Organic handing out hair care products, and Priti Spa giving eco-friendly manicures!
Apparently the biggest organic fashion trend is the Gypsy 05 organic dresses seen on Ashlee Simpson, Christina Aguilera, Tori Spelling, Denise Richards, Paris Hilton, Kate Hudson, Lauren Conrad, Hayden Panettiere, Anna Kournikova and more. We hear the dresses are made of organic cotton and natural dyes in a solar-powered factory. Gypsy 05 is a brand of clothing that transitions from day to night with ease. It is predominantly a t-shirt line, but they also like to incorporate unique casual dresses, pants, and sweaters. Their Youtube channel with earth friendly videos is here: http://www.youtube.com/user/gypsygreenplanet

Celeb mom Angelina Jolie buys Kicky Pants for their high-quality and environmentally-sound clothes.
Need a little Punky Power? The Little Seed, Soleil Moon Frye’s organic baby store sells knapsacks made from hemp, organic Can You Dig It? swaddle blankets and Green to Grow baby drinking bottles.
Trista Sutter of reality TV fame is mom to Max and pregnant with her second child – due any minute, maybe it’ll be born on Earth Day! I guess she knows what moms want to tote, and launched a line of stylish eco-friendly diaper bags.
