Cake Lingerie Cotton Candy Bra set

Our pregnant friend reviewed the Cake Lingerie Cotton Candy Bra set just for expecting and nursing mommies.  Cake is one of the top names for sexy maternity underwear! We’ve shared some of their other products in the past. Here’s what our friend Gayle thought about the new, seamless Cotton Candy set…

The Look on the Hanger:

When I first opened the package, I thought, “This is not a fancy bra by any means – no lace, no interesting cuts, no frills.” It’s seamless for comfort and so it won’t show under most clothes. It has a racer back with a little cutout at the bottom, which remind me of my teenage sports bras, kinda cute. The matching underwear are full cut and equally not pretty. It comes in pink or a light heather grey.

The Fit:

The Cotton Candy bra and panties are being marketed as a first trimester and sleep bra – Cake Lingerie specifically told me that the bra is not supportive enough for daily use. I actually completely disagree. I started out being a large cup size (DD) and pregnancy has expanded my chest to stripper-like proportions (entering third trimester and growing out of my F-cups), so supportive bra-wear has always been hard to find. This bra is supportive in the front without putting all the weight in my shoulders. It is marketed in sizes S/M/L/XL and is made of very stretchy fabric, so it grows with you – I have had it a few weeks and it has fit from a 32-F to a 34-almost G. I am not yet nursing, so didn’t try it with nursing pads, but am sure the cups would stretch easily to accommodate the extra bulk of the pads. I do like the hooks on the top of the cups, also, as they are made of metal instead of plastic.

The only downside to this bra is that it does not do a great job of shaping my chest – not super important to me right now since everything is sort of swollen and stretched out, but I do not like how it looks under form-fitting clothes. Luckily, most of my maternity clothes for work are a bit on the frumpy side, so it hasn’t been much of an issue.

How It Washed:

I have washed it three times and it is holding up well.

Overall:

I really like this bra. It is comfortable, convenient, and will save money since it stretches so well I will be able to wear it from second trimester to postpartum!
