A dozen bosoms

Sometimes word of mouth is the best advertising. Ask your friend about her hairstylist or her plumber, but be careful taking her advice on which bra to wear. There are almost as many great bras out there as there are body types. Each woman should take the time to find the bra that best fits her shape and suits her daily needs. Some need 2 different sizes for different times of the month. Some need more support than others – the list goes on and on. Your best friend’s favorite bra might be the one you toss across the room at 6pm as you shout, “Freedom!” There are so many different bra styles out there, and every woman seems to have a different one that she swears by.

That’s why I decided to ask a dozen ladies, “Why is your favorite bra your favorite”?

1. 50+ year old mother of 3, size 36DD says, “Bali has these cool cup things (inner slings for uplift and support). I like a minimizer, but I wish more large bras were lined so you can’t see nipples through T-shirts. I just don’t get it. The bigger you get the less liner they have – that doesn’t make sense.”

2. Active 20 something says, “When I am just lounging around, I love to wear bralettes. They are like thin sports bras with spaghetti straps. My favorite everyday bra gives me nice, fake cleavage, but for special occasions I wear a black lace bra.”

3. 30 something mom of 2, “I look for comfort – a nice plunge, smooth texture I can wear underneath anything, beautiful shape, underwire, fun colors too.”

4. 30 year old, no children: “My newest demi cup that I love looks nice and smooth under ALL of my clothes, has a natural looking cup shape and doesn’t pinch up skin under my armpit like other bras do – it lays flat on the sides.

5. Mid-30s, no children: “I prefer a full coverage t-shirt bra. It’s plain and non-sexy, but I’ve never had a more comfy bra, and it looks awesome under just about everything I wear. (Mine is lightly padded so no one knows when I’m cold.)

6. 30-something, large chested mom of 1 says: “I have a really nice black and gold bra which makes my boobs look fantastic. It’s not particularly comfortable, but so nice to look at and makes me feel sexy. My friend bought it in the UK for me.”

7. An anonymous woman says, “I need a bra with lasting support that is very comfortable. With my favorite Wacoal, the straps do not dig into my shoulders after a long day at work, and they also do not tend to slip off my shoulders. The comfort factor is a big plus too, they are soft on my skin. The underwire does not poke.”

8. Another shy anonymous woman says, “I LOVE a sexy push up. Mine is padded but the cups are soft, not stiff like most padded cups. It creates the best cleavage and gives you a round, smooth look. Only drawback is I find it to be hot during the summer. I love mine and don’t wear anything else. Mine is a 34DD which is hard to find at most places.”

9. 60-year-old breast cancer survivor, mom of 2, grandmother of 3 with large breasts says, “I don’t have much choice when bra shopping, because I am very large breasted and had radiation on one breast. I’m supposed to wear a boneless bra, so I wear Goddess. It comes in pretty colors, it washes well and I get good support.”

10. If you want to look as hot as Beyonce in her “Irreplaecable / To the left, To the left” video, try Triumph Sensual Emotion three quarter cup bra. It has satin pin stripes with lace trim and looks fantastic. The straps are thin so I don’t recommend it for large sized boobs.

11. 16-year-old pom/jazz dancer comments, “My favorite bra fits really well because I am in between a C cup and a D cup. For some reason only Calvin Klein fits. A lot of my other bras show when I wear tee shirts but this one doesn’t. It comes in a lot of colors for different outfits as well.”

So, although I do not recommend taking down the name and size of your best friend’s bra to buy for yourself, I would listen to her when she describes what she loves about her favorite bra, and see if it has the features you are looking for. The most beneficial bra will be the one you love to wear, and care for properly. Once you find one you love, buy 1, for every day of the week!
