For its fall jewelry collection, The Limited is collaborating with The Savannah College of Art and Design (SCAD) in a unique partnership of commerce and design.  After a formal presentation by SCAD students in March, the  women’s retailer chose 20 jewelry styles to feature in their fall jewelry line.  You can see the line here: http://www.thelimited.com/SCAD/jewelry-scad-jewelry,default,sc.html?icid=IBAC-0000305

The SCAD designers include Lauren Funk, Olivia Norton, Yudie Shan, Sam Anderson, Jennifer Williams, Miao Mai, Lillian G. Ray, Christina Y Lu, and Emily Morrow. With a range of talents and passions, these students produced creative necklaces, bracelets, earrings and rings for customers. Using The Limited’s holiday clothing line as inspiration, the designs combine edgy and elegant with pearl beads, geometric shapes, tassels, stones, and statement pendants.  The students’ jewelry is now being sold at The Limited in Savannah as well as online at www.thelimited.com.

The Limited’s mission is to provide these students with real business experience while also offering its customers original jewelry designs. SCAD’s collaboration with The Limited is a testament to the school’s mission of defining art and design education.

The Savannah School of Art and Design is a private, nonprofit institution renowned for its premier curriculum in fine arts. I went to visit SCAD’s Savannah campus on Labor Day weekend. There is a shop on campus that features student art – from pillows and purses to wall art and notecards. The work was quite impressive!

About SCAD: Founded in 1978, SCAD works to provide its students with innovative programs in arts education and effective career preparation.  The university has an enrollment of more than 11,000 students from all over the U.S., as well as over 100 countries comprising nearly 14 percent of the student body. With its top five majors in graphic design, animation, illustration, photography and fashion, SCAD offers its students with a unique opportunity to explore the artistic realm.
