How to create smokey eyes

smokey eyeMakeup artist Christopher Drummond, who has worked with celebrities, such as Jennifer Lopez, Brooke Shields, Glenn Close and Eve Ensler, offers his advice for looking flawless this holiday season.

“The biggest trend in fashion and makeup for the holidays is the glamorous “moonstruck” look. To compliment your fabulous dress, makeup is flirty and smoky.” All you need is a stunning gown and smokey eyes.

Here are Christopher’s tips for achieving the perfect smokey eye:

 1. Start with a beige shadow base over your entire lid

2. Apply gold shadow 3/4 of the way up your eyelid starting at the lash line, not quite all the way up to the brow.

3. Apply a blue/grey shadow from the crease (middle) of the eye to the base of the lashes. Blend well.

4. On the outer corner of your eyelid, blend in a purple eye shadow to give some extra “sizzle.” Blend well!

5. Finally, use a black liner to line the base of the lashes. Remember, sometimes eyeshadow with a tiny, angled brush makes the best eyeliner! Follow with mascara. Wiggle your mascara brush side to side as you slide it up your lashes.

To compliment the smokey eyes, Christopher suggests lush lips and radiant cheeks. The new Fall/Winter 2009 Color Collection from Christopher Drummond Beauty has products for all the trends for holiday in one collection, plus it’s all-natural, vegan and organic! We’re going to try the Veludo Velvet foundation and bronzer and tell you what we think later this week.
